In the 1950s, Hogan worked in New York as a model for the Paris fashion designer Mainbocher. Later in life she returned to her native Virginia, where she continued her modeling career. In the 1970s she was voted one of the Hampton Roads area's best dressed women. Her mother, Louise Jenkins Driver, was also interested in fashion and jewelry, and it was from her that Hogan first learned to appreciate them. She then built her collection throughout her life, making for a varied selection with an emphasis on classic pieces that have outlasted any trends.
