We are pleased to offer for public auction the contents of the Berkeley Castle, currently a museum and a National & West Virginia registered historical landmark. Built in 1885 by Colonel Samuel Taylor Suit from Suitland, Maryland, it is the only English Norman castle in America. Colonel Suit, (a wealthy businessman & a Civil War veteran under General Robert E. Lee), built the castle for his wife Rosa Pelham. Rosa was the daughter of Congressman Charles Pelham of Alabama. In 1954, the Berkeley Castle was purchased by Mr. Bird and has remained in his family for the last 46 years.

Parking: Due to lack of parking space, we have arranged parking at the Moose Lodge 1 mile from the Castle on North 522. We will be providing shuttle vans to take you to the castle. Parking and sale signs will be placed to assist you.

Directions: From Winchester, Va.., take I-81 to 522 North. From Frederick & Hagerstown, Md., take I-70 to Hancock, Md. and then 522 South. Once in Berkeley Springs, turn onto Rt. 9-West, (Union Street). Castle is ¼ mile on the right. Please note special parking arrangements.
