Edo Murtic was born in Velika Pisanica, in 1921, but lived in New York for a considerable time. The contact with the American school of Pollock, Kline and De Kooning had a great influence on his conversion to Abstractism, an artistic style which he worked in until the late 1970s. His is represented in museums around the world including the Tate Gallery, London; the Museum of Modern Art, New York; the Museè d'Art Moderne, Paris; the Nationalgalerie, Berlin; the Narodni Galerie, Prague; Kunsthaus, Zurich; and numerous others.
